So send I you to labor unrewarded,
To serve unpaid, unloved, unsought, unknown,
To bear rebuke, to suffer scorn and scoffing,
So send I you to toil for me alone.
So send I you - to loneliness and longing,
With heart a-hungering for the loved and known;
Forsaking home and kindred, friend and dear one,
So send I you - to know my love alone.
So send I you - to leave your life’s ambitions,
To die to dear desire, self-will resign,
To labor long and love where men revile you,
So send I you - to lose your life in mine.
This hymn, So Send I You, has been called the greatest missionary hymn of the twentieth century.
Her own revision later in life
So send I you-by grace made strong
to triumph
O'er hosts of hell, o'er darkness, death, and sin,
My name to bear, and in that name to conquer-
So send I you, my victory to win.
So send I you-to take to souls in
bondage
The word or truth that sets the captive free,
To break the bonds of sin, to lost death's fetters-
So send I you, to bring the lost to me.
So send I you-my strength to know
in weakness,
My joy in grief, my perfect peace in pain,
To prove My power, My grace, My promised presence-
So send I you, eternal fruit to gain.
So send I you-to bear My cross
with patience,
And then one day with joy to lay it down,
To hear My voice, "well done, My faithful servant-
Come, share My throne, My kingdom, and My crown!"
"As the Father hath sent Me, so send I you."
My Heart, My Desire is to see the nations worship-First line
Not sure these are what you are looking for but they are "Oldies but Goodies." Most of these have Great lyrics but could desparately use a contemporary arrangement. Some one with arranging talent looking for ideas could begin here! Maybe a section on you great site could be opened labeled such or "Musical freshing needed" or some such thing. There is a tremendous challenge and heritage in the missons music of the last 150 years that needs contemporary musical help.
We've a story to tell to the nations

Ever check out any of the Urbana CDs? At Urbana 2000, we sang a song called "Light to the Nations" - I think it's attributed to Matt Frazier but I'm not sure.
Open our eyes to see your love for the nations.
Open our hearts to feel your love for the nations.
So many millions haven’t heard of your love -
Will anyone let them know?
A mighty harvest but there’s no one to reap -
Where are the ones who will go?
Open our eyes to see your love for the nations.
Open our hearts to feel your love for the nations.
Barriers have fallen and walls tumbled down -
You’ve given us open doors.
Where hungry people are feeding on lies
They need the truth of your Word.
Chorus:
You have the power to save,
Only your love can set free.
Lord, make me ready to give myself
Because you gave yourself for me.
Open our eyes to see your love for the nations.
Open our hearts to feel your love for the nations.
So many people are oppressed, in despair,
Outside your Kingdom today.
Who’ll cross frontiers with your message of hope?
Jesus alone is the Way.
Chorus:
You have the power to save,
Only your love can set free.
Lord, make me ready to give myself
Because you gave yourself for me.
Open our eyes to see your love for the nations.
Open our hearts to feel your love for the nations.

Thank you for doing this!
There is a hymm that is called, Follow Me. Words and music are by Ira Stamphill. The last verse is my favorite.
"O Jesus, if I die upon a foreign field some day
Twould be ne more than love demands, no less could I repay
'no greater love hath mortal man than for a firend to die...'"
There are several other hymns, some slightly oompa-loompa-ish Ring Out the Message James Rowe and Samuel W. Beazley Rescue the Perishing Fanny J. Crosby and W. H. Doane Send the Light CHarles H. Gabriel
If you find CDs by Ron Luce/ Acquire the Fire-- many of the songs are missional. And not oompa-loompa-ish.
Hello,
Read about the search for mission songs in Brigada. Have you seen the songbook
Songs of Challenge put out by New Tribes Mission? There are quite a few
mission songs in it, some not real well known.

One of the very best, by the late Danniebelle Hall: "Ordinary People" Very moving, in her strong, emotive voice. It may no longer be in print, but I have CD. The theme is, God uses ordinary people to accomplish His purposes. One feels like volunteering for missions before she finishes the last verse.
Here I Am, Lord (Daniel L. Schutte, 1981) a hymn
I saw your note on Brigada. Feel free to copy my lists from:
http://home.snu.edu/~hculbert.fs/songs4.htm http://home.snu.edu/~hculbert.fs/classics.htm http://home.snu.edu/~hculbert.fs/missing.htmGreat idea!!
I've been trying to develop a list as well, so it's great to learn of other people's suggestions. -kaye sims, Michigan
Several of my favorites are from the CD/cassette "Shine your light thro' the window" from New Life Church in Colorado Springs -
www.newlifechurch.org -All nations (All nations will come & worship... ) [John Chisum & George Searcy] -Our heart, our desire is to see the nations worship [John Chisum & George Searcy] -Teach us to pray (Lord, make us a house of prayer for all the nations...) [Ross Parsley & Matthew Fallentine]
Besides these from that great CD, we also like to use the following: -Go light your world [Chris Rice/Kathy Troccoli] -Glorify thy name (in all the earth) -Jesus, be the LORD of all [Lanny & Marietta Wolfe] -Jesus, name above all names
-Let everything that has breath [Matt Redman]
-Let Your glory fall in this place (let it flow forth from here to the
nations...)
-LORD, prepare me to be a sanctuary
-We bow down [Twila Paris]
-We want to see Jesus lifted high [Doug Horley]
And then there's one that we have adapted for a concert of prayer. -Open the eyes of my heart, LORD First we sang it as a worship chorus; then we stopped to talk about those who NEED to have the eyes of their hearts opened - in the 10/40 window & beyond. We then changed just a few words to sing another verse as a prayer for the nations: -Open the eyes of THEIR hearts, LORD... they need to see you... high & lifted up...
I've compiled some lists of songs at

Here is a book of songs that we used to sing in China and, later, in Japan and in Taiwan: SONGS OF MISSIONARY CONQUEST, Published for THE EVANGELICAL ALLIANCE MISSION by Lillenas Publishing Company, Kansas City, Missouri (no date). This is a collection of over 60 missionary songs which I dearly love to sing. The cover pages says that copies may be secured from THE EVANGELICAL ALLIANCE MISSION, now located at: 2500 N. Main St, (or PO Box 969) Wheaton, IL 60189. You will have a treasury of missionary songs if you can still get this book. The listed price was 30 cents a copy, post paid, but that was years ago. I'm sure the price has gone up in the last 50 years or so!
God bless you in your quest.
Who am i
Lord, that You call me by name.
Who am i
Lord, that You call me by name.
What have i
brought You, but heartache and pain,
How can You
use me, i have so little to give.
Who am i
Lord, that You call me by name.
What am i
Lord, that You ask me to go.
What am i
Lord, that You ask me to go.
Is there
something, that You see,
that is
worthy, of my service to Thee.
Who am i
Lord, that You call me by name.
How can You
choose me, i have so little to give.
How can You
use me, i have so little to give.
i give it to
You, i reach out my hand.
Oh please use
me, i give you all that i am.
Who am i
Lord, that You call me by name.
i'm going
Lord, i'm so in love with You.
i'm going
Lord, i'm so in love with You.
You have
given, me your freedom,
to do Your
will Lord, now i am free to go.
Who am i
Lord, that You call me by name.
Here am i
Lord, i am willing to go.
Hineni, my
Lord, i am willing to go.
